About wellfd

About Us

wellfd was built for a simple reason: deciding where to eat in Northern Kentucky shouldn't be harder than the meal itself.

We got tired of scrolling social media, dodging chain restaurants, and wondering whether a recommendation was genuine or just paid placement. We wanted a better way to discover local spots—one rooted in real experience, not algorithms. So we built the thing we wished existed.

It all started one Saturday morning when Andy (founder of wellfd—and those who know him know patience isn't his strong suit) was scrolling Facebook and came across a simple question: "New to the area, any recommendations on where to eat?" Hundreds of responses later, scattered across comment threads with no clear answer, it was time to create a solution.

And wellfd was born.

Supported by input from friends, family, and fellow food lovers, wellfd emerged as a curated restaurant discovery platform featuring exclusively independent, locally owned restaurants across Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Every place listed is there because someone actually eats there and thinks it's worth your time. No chains. No sponsored rankings. Just honest picks from people who care about the local food scene and the community behind it.

We're not a tech startup or a Silicon Valley company—we're a family outfit made up of regular people who like going out to eat and supporting local businesses. wellfd is meant to be useful, practical, and fun: a place to explore great restaurants, quickly share plans with friends using "Let's Meet Here," get help when you can't decide, and add your own voice through reviews and recommendations.

We know we won't be perfect, but we're committed to getting better and we genuinely want your feedback. wellfd is about bringing people to the table, supporting local restaurants, and making it easier to enjoy the food scene right here in Northern Kentucky.

Welcome to the table.

What Makes Us Different

🍽️ Curated, Not Corporate

No paid placements, no sponsored rankings. wellfd features exclusively independent, locally owned restaurants—never national chains—carefully selected to showcase high-quality food, strong character, and authentic local dining experiences.

🏆 Honest Ratings

Our "Worth the Crawl" rating system gives you straight talk. We're not here to please advertisers — we're here to help you find great food.

We don't review bad restaurants. Bad restaurants get removed. If it's on wellfd, it already passed. So the ratings don't answer "is it good?" — everything here is good. They answer one question:

"How far should you go for it?"

That means a 📍 If You're Nearby rating is a genuine endorsement — not a consolation prize. And when something earns 🏆 Worth the Crawl, it means something. Scarcity creates authority. We don't hand it out like candy.

🤝 Community-Driven

Members share reviews, suggest additions, and help us grow. This is your guide as much as it is ours.

🎁 Exclusive Perks

We partner with restaurants to bring you exclusive deals and discounts. It's our way of supporting local businesses while rewarding our community.

Transparency & Disclosure

Advertising on wellfd does not influence restaurant selection, rankings, or editorial content, and ranking-based paid listings are not permitted.

Operating under the positioning "Curated, Not Corporate," wellfd helps diners discover standout local restaurants and does not allow ranking-based paid listings or corporate chains on the platform.

How are restaurants selected?

What is the 'Worth the Crawl' rating system?

Every restaurant on wellfd already passed the filter — bad restaurants don't get reviewed, they get removed. So our ratings don't ask 'is it good?' They ask: how far should you go for it? Worth the Crawl means drive two hours and book a hotel. Worth the Drive means an hour is reasonable. Worth a Short Detour means you'd gladly add 15–20 minutes. If You're Nearby means you'd absolutely stop in and go back — just not plan your weekend around it. The floor is already quality. The rating tells you how far to chase it.

How do exclusive deals work?

Members get access to exclusive vouchers and discounts at participating restaurants. Simply claim a voucher, show it at the restaurant, and enjoy your savings. It's our way of supporting local businesses and rewarding our community.
